FALL 2021 GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Emily Wisniewski from Crescent Valley made an immediate impact this season, running undefeated in 5A competition, becoming the district and state champion, as well as Crescent Valley’s new record holder.

  • Kate Peters from Lake Oswego finished the season as the Oregon 6A champion, the new record holder for the Nike Portland Invite, and the number one ranked cross country athlete in the country.

  • Teaghan Knox from Summit was in the top-10 of every meet she competed in this fall, capped by a win in the NW Classic Meet. She was the Mountain Valley Conference Runner of the Year, finished fourth at the Nike Portland Invite, and received the Anderman Sportsmanship Award.


FALL 2021 BOYS CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • James Crabtree from Sherwood owns the school record in the 5000m. James finished the season First-Team All-League and All-State, with a third at the Nike Portland Invite, and he set a new meet record at the Hole in the Wall Invitational Championship.

  • Alex Garcia-Silver from Marshfield earned First-Team All-League and All-State honors. He finished the season as 4A state champion while setting a new 5k boys school record at the Lewis & Clark Invitational.

  • Tyrone Gorze from Crater went undefeated in the regular season and postseason. Tyrone finished first in 8 meets, including 5 invitationals and the 5A state championship. He finished with the best time in all classifications for 5k running.

  • Charlie North from Franklin took first at the Lewis & Clark Invite, second at the Pacific NW Cross Country Championships, second in state by 0.7 seconds, and closed the season with the fastest timed run on an Oregon cross country course in 2021.

 

FALL 2021 GIRLS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Lindsey Antonson from Wilsonville was a three-time Northwest Oregon Conference Player of the Year, three-time First-Team All-League member, and the new state career goals record holder with 139 — scoring 52 goals in 2021.

  • Elle Frazier from Grant was a High School All-American of the West who recorded not one, but two five-goal games this season.

  • Taylor Krueger from Jesuit was a recipient of High School All-American West Team and First-Team All-Metro honors who recorded 15 goals and 8 assists to help the Crusaders top the 6A table in 2021.

  • Myranda Marquez from Woodburn started all four years for the Bulldogs. Marquez was a two-time state champion, two-time Player of the Year, First-Team All-Conference, and Oregon West Player of the Year after recording 23 goals and 8 assists in 2021.


FALL 2021 BOYS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Nani Deperro from Summit led the Storm to a 17-0-1 record, notching 32 goals and 19 assists in the process. Summit finished No. 1 in Oregon 6A, No. 1 in Region 8, and No. 7 in the nation. He was named Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year.

  • Mizael Harris from La Salle Prep closed the season with 24 goals and 21 assists. Mizael recorded three goals and one assist in the championship game to lead his team to back-to-back state titles! Harris also earned First-Team All-NWOC League honors.

  • Victor Martinez from Phoenix finished 2021 with 30 goals and eight assists, earning Skyline Conference First-Team designation for the fourth time and his third Player of the Year honor.

  • Felipe Rueda from Catlin Gabel finished his prep career undefeated on a 31-game scoring streak, with 43 wins and one draw. He notched 42 goals and 19 assists this season. He earned 3A-1A Special District Player of the Year and 3A-1A State Champion Player of the Year.

 

FALL 2021 VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Sydney Harrington from West Albany was a unanimous All-Tournament selection at the state tournament. The senior earned First-Team All-League in the 5A-3 Mid-Willamette Conference, recording 905 assists, 309 digs, 86 aces, 81 kills, 47 blocks.

  • Hailey Heider from West Albany was named Volleyball Athlete of the Year for Elite Oregon Girls and First-Team All-Tournament at the State Championship this year.

  • Tess Masingale from Jesuit was a three-time Gatorade Player of the Year nominee. An All-American Honorable Mention selection, she earned First-Team All-Tournament at state and was named Metro League First-Team and the Metro League Player of the Year.

  • Emily Warmenhoven from West Linn was named Three Rivers League Player of the Year to go along with a unanimous First-Team All-Tournament selection at state. The senior outside hitter will be playing on a full-ride scholarship for Belmont next year.


FALL 2021 FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Award criteria and past winners

  • Darrius Clemons from Westview was a four-star wide receiver recruit. The top overall prospect in the state notched 890 receiving yards, 40 catches, 12 touchdowns, 8 tackles, and 2 interceptions. Clemons was named Metro League Offensive Player of the Year.

  • Jack Layne from Lake Oswego was the Three Rivers League Offensive Player of the Year, recording 3,379 passing yards, 38 passing TDs, 322 rushing yards, and 6 rushing TDs. Layne was also named Gatorade State Player of the Year.

  • Trejon Williams from Jefferson was a four-star recruit and the number two overall prospect in Oregon. The All-American Bowl Selection recorded 37 total tackles, 20 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, and scored 3 touchdowns.

  • Emar’rion Winston from Central Catholic was the number three overall prospect in the state. He was named First-Team All-Mount Hood Conference, recording 45 tackles (14 for a loss), 9 sacks, 2 pass tips, and 1 forced fumble.
